Katy Perry Opens Up #TrendingOnThe10s

“Katy Perry: Part of Me,” hits theaters in 3D on Thursday July 5th. Katy has stressed over and over…that she is a REAL girl with REAL problems, and that’s what her new movie promises to convey to fans.

Most artists wouldn’t be willing to reveal themselves without make-up, or bawling backstage in a pink cupcake costume. But Perry insisted that this PART OF HER be included in the movie.

“I’m OK with showing what’s behind the curtain,” Perry, 27, told Reuters in a recent interview. “I’m OK with showing that side of me because it helps people relate (to me) better and think of me as a human being.”

On its face, the movie is just another concert movie that documents Katy on her first world tour in 2011. BUT in an unexpected twist of events, “Katy Perry: Part of Me” followed the crumbling of her marriage to Russell Brand, whom she wed in 2010. By December 2011, they had split and in February, they divorced.

The film shows Brand early on, visiting Perry backstage and picking her up in his car. But soon after, he disappears from the story, and Perry begins to suffer emotional breakdowns and fits of crying while her team tries helplessly to revive the old Katy.

“I wanted to share it with my fans, but I didn’t know in what capacity it would be,” she said.
