The musical girl power group of the 90’s got together on stage recently to announce some big news. No, they’re not reuniting for a tour, but they did announce a musical!
The British girl band’s life style message is back in the spot light! The Spice Girls are telling the story of four friends who’s personal lives and bonds are tested as their band enters a TV talent show. The producers of the show “Viva Forever” want to stress that this isn’t going to be a typical biography or a tribute of the band. There will be tons of real life “Girl Power” moments just the same as they set the stage for female empowerment through out the 1990’s. The show will open this December in London.
“We’re going to be introducing a whole new generation to `Girl Power,'” explained Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham at the media launch along with Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm and Melanie Brown – also known as Baby, Ginger, Sporty and Scary Spice.
The goal of the musical is to hit the same fan base as the “Mama Mia”, which was produced in 14 languages around the world. The same team of woman behind the hit “Mama Mia” are also the ones behind the Spice Girls musical, along with their hits “Wannabe,” Spice Up Your Life,” and “Mama”.
“There’s just something empowering about women’s stories that interests me a lot,” Craymer said. She also went on to say that the musical is “a heartwarming family tale” that touches on the role of media and celebrity in the modern world.
