Lil Wayne Pulls Nicki Minaj Off Summer Jam

An infamous summer music festival ran by a hip-hop station in New York, known as the “Summer Jam” really blew it for all of their fans. The festival, which took place on Sunday night (June 3), was set to have Nicki Minaj headline, along with a corralled group of today’s hottest rap talent. Minaj, the Young Money superstar, would have set a record for being the first female artist to headline the Summer Jam. The morning of the show she tweeted how excited she was stating “history will be made” tonight.

A few hours before she was set to go on, things quickly changed as the boss of Young Money, Lil Wayne, made the executive decision to pull Minaj off of the lineup. All thanks to Peter Rosenberg, a member of the stations morning show, decided to dis Nicki Minaj as he was opening the stage for A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

“I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now. F*** that bullsh**. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop sh**”

It didn’t take long for the Young Money group to find out as Lil Wayne tweeted:

Of course Minaj followed Wayne’s wishes and tweeted out “Wow. U n—az just f—ed up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB.” Quickly after that, she acknowledged her fans and also tweeted:

The beef didn’t ruin the show for some though. Lauryn Hill and Nas still performed along with 2 Chainz and Big Sean. Minaj let her followers know that her performance was going to include a slew of surprises. “Camron, 2 Chainz, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Beenie Man, Foxy Brown, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Tyga, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda,” she tweeted. All though not all of Minaj’s surprise guests made it out, DJ Khaled, who’s label is also signed to YMCMB didn’t show along with Busta Rhymes.
