"American Pie: Reunion" Australian Premiere

Chris Klein, better known as “Oz” from the American Pie movies, called in to Fresh 102.7/New York to chat about the newest American Pie film, American Reunion, and his time on set with the original cast members from the first hilarious flick that was released in 1998 and quickly turned into a cult classic.

Klein started off with a small surprise. Apparently Klein’s high school days were similar to the character that he plays in the American Pie series – where he straddles the line between jock and theater kid.

“Yeah! I was kinda both, and Oz and me share that one similarity. That’s probably the only reason why i got the part back in 1998– i don’t think it had much to do with talent,” he joked. “We share that and that was really fun for me to do back when I was a kid. I’m really grateful to have grown up in a place…I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska in which the arts were celebrated just as much as the athletics. That was kind of a unique thing and I was lucky to have that.”

Klein spoke about all the hi-jinks that went on when he got back together with Jim, Stifler and the rest of the boys. “There’s a lot of improv and a lot of craziness” says Chris. “In fact, the producers of this movie spend a whole heck of a lot of their time reigning us in like were a bunch of toddlers. I feel like if there was an outtake reel of all the times we busted out laughing this movie would be 12 hours long!”

Chris assured fans that the American Pie lovers that have been with the crew from the beginning will be nothing but pleased with the new film. He said that “Any fans out there who have expectations, I can really guarantee that they will get everything they want and more with this American Reunion.”

American Reunion is in theaters now.
