Ke$ha Gives Her Blood To Rock Band
Ke$ha recently worked on the Flaming Lips’ upcoming album, Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. Due out just in time for Record Store Day on April 21, the band’s frontman has a little more than a record planned.
Wayne Coyne talked with MTV Hive about his plan to have each musician’s blood on the LP.
“What I’m going to try to do — and I’m collecting stuff for it as we speak — is I’m going to try to make a record that has every person’s blood in the record,” Coyne said. “I don’t have everybody’s blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vials of blood and it’s actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak.”
He continued to explain that the album will be released in picture disk form with five or six made and likely sold and bought by “interested rich Flaming Lips people.” So far he has collected blood from collaborators Neon Indian, Prefuse 73 and Ke$ha.
“I’m going to try to take that same concept and put little bits of everybody’s blood in the middle of this record. Like a glass specimen thing,” he said.
While it’s not illegal to sell blood, one wonders what Coyne has learned through his process of blood collection.
“You don’t really realize how many people are afraid of needles until you say, ‘Hey, I’m going to send someone by the show tonight to get some of your blood.”
In addition to his blood project, Coyne might have another collaboration with Ke$ha in the works.
“I’m talking with Ke$ha about doing some tracks on her new record,” Coyne told Rolling Stone. “We knew that she was a fan. She’s a lot of fun and crazy and open to ideas and she’s creative. She’s all these things that you don’t know.”
