A Nation Wide Ban On Cell Phone Usage While Driving?

With the rise of devices like smart phones and even different hand free devices, different states, including Michigan, have put a ban on using the devices while driving.  So talking and texting while on your way home from work could actually get you a ticket.  Now, many states haven’t put this into effect.  The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued a recommendation that cell phones and other devices should be banned from being able to use while driving!

While it is obviously unsafe to text and drive, I know a ton of people still do it.  And according to The New York Times, the NTSB has put out a statement saying it should be a national law that we cannot use the devices while driving.

“It’s about cognitive distraction. It’s about not being engaged at the task at hand,” she said, adding: “Lives are being lost in the blink of an eye. You can’t take it back, you can’t have a do over, and you can’t rewind.”

AT&T put out this video about the trouble with distracted driving.  I will say, this video is hard to watch.  There isn’t anything TOO graphic, but just a sad video, but everyone should at least watch it once.
