He recently turned 85 and he’s been in the music game for a LONG LONG LONG time….but this is his 1st #1 album!!! Not only is it his 1st #1 album but he’s also broken a U.S. album chart record!!! Tony Bennett should be thanking Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse!

Tony Bennett has scored his first U.S. number one album at the age of 85.

”Duets II” release has rocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, thanks to much-publicised collaborations with Lady Gaga and the late Amy Winehouse, making Bennett the oldest living act to reach the top spot.

Just last week, Bennett became the oldest living artist to score a Billboard Hot 100 hit when his “Body & Soul” duet with Winehouse debuted at 87. His album shot to number one with 179,000 sales.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner’s previous high on the U.S. album chart came in 2006, when his first “Duets” compilation debuted at number three.

Last week’s number one, “Own The Night” by Lady Antebellum drops a spot to two, as does Adele’s “21” at three.

Demi Lovato debuts “Unbroken” at four, while Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” rounds out the top five.

NeedToBreathe, Mindless Behavior, Gavin DeGraw and Pearl Jam all debut new albums in the top 10.
