Have you ever been to a wholesaler’s trade show? This is not the kind of trade show you’re thinking of at your local convention center. Rather, picture an aircraft-hangar sized warehouse, containing thousands of buyers and sellers sitting around with smart phones and iDevices, writing orders. Yet, almost all of the reps are writing orders on paper, handing the buyer a yellow-paper carbon copy, hoping that their handwriting is legible, and taking the order back to the office for some poor office manager to type up and enter into the system. The Handshake app is turning paper to technology using an iPad and operates sort of like Square for Business to Business. Handshake currently works with over 150 companies. Glen Coates, an Aussie born former DJ turned entrepreneur which found himself as the CTO of Handshake in NYC. All iPad transactions are synced to Handshake’s web server, where a manager can provision rep sales.
