VMA 2011 Nominations Announced! Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye On Top

[photogallerylink id=51618 align=right]All night I kept getting Tweets on my thoughts about the VMA nominations just announced yesterday. I’m not surprised that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adele[/lastfm] were most nominated (‘Rolling In The Deep’ was one of my favorites from this past year) but I had totally forgotten that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm] had a brilliant contender with ‘All Of The Lights’.

Well it looks like the most Tweeted about controversy on the upcoming VMAs is that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] wasn’t nominated for Video of The Year or Best Pop Video, though she made it into Best Female Video. What do I think of that? Now, I’m a loyal Little Monster but to me it just wasn’t Gaga’s year. My favorite videos from her are “Pokerface” and “Bad Romance” so compared to those, “Edge of Glory” and even “Judas” just didn’t do it for me. Just being honest and I think most Gaga fans would agree.

I think [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adele [/lastfm]has a really good chance of taking some moonmen home and rightfully so. Not only was the song a smash but I still remember loving the video the very first time I saw it. She has seven nominations tying with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm] leads with nine. Katy had a bunch of great videos this past year, my favorite probably being “Last Friday Night” which is up for Best Pop Video.

I would also love to see [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Cee-Lo[/lastfm] win for “F*** You” and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bruno Mars[/lastfm] win for “Grenade“. Both really solid videos that made a pretty good impact.

Also, I’m really happy to see Beyonce and LMFAO both up for best choreography! They dance their booties off in those videos, I love both of them, and it’s gonna be a tough call who wins. Who do you think deserves it more?

Rock? I love the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Linkin Park[/lastfm] video for ‘Waiting For The End’, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Foo Fighters [/lastfm]‘Walk‘ and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Black Keys [/lastfm]‘ Howlin’ For You’.

Surprises? No nominations for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rihanna[/lastfm] or [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm]… [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kreayshawn[/lastfm] nominated for Best New Artist… and who the heck is [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tyler, The Creator[/lastfm]?

The VMAs will be coming to our town! The 28th annual show will take place at Nokia Theatre on Sunday, August 28 at 9pm ET/PT.
