Guest List: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Embraces His Anarchistic-Monk In “Hesher”
This week our friends at the Guest List bring us an interview with the indie film scene’s biggest star: Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This week the former Third Rock From The Sun star plays the lead in the film Hesher, a quiet but powerful film produced by Natalie Portman.
Watch our interview to find out what makes the superstar tick.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a long-haired, potty-mouthed, heavy-metal guy whose anarchist side reshapes the lives of TJ (Devin Brochu), Paul (Rainn Wilson), and Nicole (Natalie Portman) and teaches them to embrace life once more. Unlike any role we’ve seen from the 500 Days of Summer adult actor, kudos to him for taking on such a wild and challenging role. When asked what attracted him to the bad-ass character, he says:
“Well on the surface, he’s so rad, he’s breaking things, setting things on fire…but what really sold me on him is the layers underneath that.” Sounds like our kind of movie.
Produced by Natalie Portman, Gordon-Levitt tells us the movie would not have seen the light of day if it wasn’t for her. Find out what else he says about working with Natalie Portman, and Rainn Wilson from the hit-TV show Office.
