In 1999,  a relatively unknown girl from Kentwood, Louisana changed the face of pop music with the provocatively sexy single, “Baby, One More Time.”

Twelve years later, that girl grew up to be the iconic [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm].  A woman the whole world watched break into a million pieces, only to put herself back together again, transforming in the process to perhaps, one of the most iconic women in the history of pop music.

And it’s no surprise that Femme Fatale her seventh studio album is no exception.  Flashing edgier, dance heavy sounds reminiscent of her earlier hits, Britney Spears proved that she can dominate in an arena filled with heavy hitting 21st Century artists.

Femme Fatale is the perfect collection of dance heavy singles that will wow old school Britney fans while also appealing curious critics of the blonde.

As the first two singles “Hold It Against Me” and “Till The World Ends” have indicated, this is an album of the times heavy with bass and synth, perhaps as an homage to the sound made so popular by DJs like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Guetta[/lastfm].  However, it is still distinctly Britney.

The unique genius of this album is in the subtle crafting of a collection of singles into a cohesive album, giving Femme Fatale the flexibility to appeal to the casual Britney fan, who may only like one single, but will likely buy the whole album once they give it a listen.

It’s hard to single out the shining star of the album, as every track is perfectly crafted and has a magic all of its own.  However, the heavy hitters will easily be “Inside Out,” “Big Fat Bass (featuring will.i.am)” and “Trouble For Me.”

“Inside Out” could easily be the song  a slow sad breakup anthem that amazingly makes you feel empowered enough to want to break up with anyone.  Likewise, the collaboration between will.i.am and Britney on “Big Fat Bass” will have a mass appeal in clubs.

Is this Britney Spears’ best album?  To be perfectly honest, it’s the most perfect representation of what Britney does since she put out the 2003 self-entitled album Britney which produced some of the greatest hits of Britney’s career: including “Slave 4 U,” “Overprotected” and “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman.”

Femme Fatale is risky, experimental and excellent mix of girl power, partying and sadness.

In this way, people can not only relate to these are essential pieces of growing up, but because it represents a time in Britney’s life that the world witnessed her go through and come back from.
