Google, Inc. has broken news that they plan to hire 6,200 more workers this year. That’s great news for the state of our current economy, especially here in Michigan. AnnArbor.com reported earlier this week the hiring expansion will take place at Google’s Ann Arbor AdWords office on Division. When President Barack Obama emphasized the need for more jobs during his State of the Union address Tuesday night, Google made the decision to expand immediately. Google CEO Eric Schmidt was one of the business leaders who had the opportunity to meet with Obama back in December to discuss the economy. Google prepared hiring plans Tuesday with The Associated Press, leaving out specifics, but definite hiring plans, nonetheless. Google hired roughly 4,600 people last year, expanding the company to a total of 24,400 employees. Google’s public announcement to increase its work force by at least 25% in 2011 means Google’s payroll may grow faster than its revenue. In addition to expanding in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Google is also making plans to hire approximately 1,000 more people in Europe throughout 2011. Having over 60 offices in more than 30 countries World wide, one of which is just miles away, will you be the next Google employee? With recent 10% raises to all Google employees, as well as generous stock option, many employees became early millionaires, so why not?
