Nowadays, Twitter popularity isn’t all about who has the most followers, but who who is having their tweets re-tweeted the most. In the picture below, you’ll notice there is an American flag, next to Justin Bieber’s name, even though he is Canadian. This is because most of his re-tweets stem from the U.S. This data confirms what has been tossed around for a while now: Twitter is mainstream. Twitter isn’t the world of tech geeks. Even the geekiest tech leaders don’t get re-tweeted this much. I think it’s also telling that 4 of the 10 are not only outside of the U.S. but are tweeted in a language other than English as well. Twitter isn’t about geeks anymore, it’s about everyone.
