It’s been hyped as one of the most ambitious music videos to date… in fact, it’s a short film! [lastfm]Kanye West[/lastfm] debuted his 40-minute “Runaway” music video at Landmark Sunshine Theatre in New York City amid a throng of celebrities and fans.
Go behind the scenes with Billboard.com‘s inside coverage:
Shot in the beautiful setting of Prague, the film features model (and real-life girlfriend) Selita Ebanks as a phoenix who has trouble gaining acceptance from her peers.
[photogallerylink id=23667 align=right]Explains Kanye, “I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world… I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”
“Runaway” will premiere TV tomorrow at 8pm EST in a simulcast on MTV, MTV2 and BET.
